Pre-Move Checklist
- Review Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
- Please make sure you read and understand your Coverage Options prior to your move. You will need to select the level of protection on the day of your move: https://bonzamovers.com/valuation-coverage
- Separate valuables (jewelry, private documents) for personal vehicle on your moving day.
- Please make sure the movers are aware of your plans to move any special items as they may require special packing. Please also make sure any extra heavy or bulky items are included in your initial estimate.
- Move all items in the attic or crawl space to an accessible area.
- If moving appliances, they must be disconnected and cleaned prior to moving. Our crew members will not be able to disconnect / reconnect any appliances.
- Machinery (lawn mowers, snow blowers, etc) must be drained of all fuel/oil. Drivers cannot transport gasoline.
- Due to restrictions in place by various state laws, we are unable to transport live plants during moves. Please make alternative arrangements for transportation of live plants.
- Please make sure to measure doorways, narrow and tight spaces to ensure the larger items will fit into your new home. Please note that BonzaMovers does NOT provide hoisting services.
- Please make the necessary parking/loading dock arrangements and obtain a permit (if needed) for a safe and legal parking spot for the moving truck prior to your move.
Items we cannot pack or move in the moving truck:
- Valuables: cash, jewelry, credit cards, social security cards, licenses, legal documents (such as deeds, wills, and car and home titles), medical records, irreplaceable items (such as photo albums).
- Chemicals: acid, ammonia, antifreeze, bleach/cleaners, chemistry sets, cleaning fluid, essential oils, house paint, nail polish/remover, paint thinner, pesticides, and weed killer.
- Flammables and explosives: aerosols (hairspray, room deodorizer, household cleaner), ammunition, butane (camping stoves, cigarette lighters) charcoal, candles, e-cigarettes, fireworks, gas or oils (cooking, bath, or massage oils; lamp or motor oil), matches, oxygen containers, propane tanks or cans, and welding gas.
- Hazardous items: batteries (including lithium, car), fertilizer, fire extinguishers, and hoverboards.
- Open/perishable items: items with excessive odor, open alcohol containers, open containers of liquid, non-sealed food containers, perishable foods, and prescription drugs.
- Items packed in trash bags: we will not be able to transport items that are packed in bags/trash bags. We strongly recommend packing all items in boxes (or let our movers know and they will pack it for you). If customers prefer to keep the items in bags, they will need to assume all risks associated with damages to such items and BonzaMovers is not responsible for damages in these cases.
